Letter from the President/CEO

Rebekah Evans has served as the President/CEO of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce since 2006. Her staff works hard to better the Malibu Business Community.

The Malibu Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center is a dynamic organization comprised of more than 600 businesses that help shape the economy, promote community awareness, and set the pace for the future of the City of Malibu and beyond. Through the Chamber's successful programs, volunteer committees, and business events, we provide the services and resources to help your business grow while gaining exposure in the community. 

In these turbulent times, it is now that we must find new and inventive ways to continue to do business, which takes Courage.    Courage in business leadership is expressed in many ways. It can be changing a vision and strategy. It can be maintaining an ethical stance in the face of personal risks. Courage can be a key factor in driving out the fear that is prevalent in many companies. It can be about holding to a strategic choice and transformation efforts in the face of severe economic changes.  It can also be the steps you must take to ‘change things up,’ or ‘Take II!’

A business environment like this one requires managers of any business to be courageous.  I suggest taking it a step further by adopting courage as a key value of your organization and inculcating it into your culture.  The courage to listen, act, make mistakes, admit failure and most importantly stay the course is essential to survival in times like these and separates successful businesses from the pack in more economically stable times.  We are humbled by the ‘Leading Roles’ that are apparent in business today, and we are thrilled to share them with you in this edition for 2011.
