SUMMARY:Malibu Monarch Project at Thorne Family Farm
DESCRIPTION:The Malibu Monarch Project is celebrating its 11th anniversary.\n\n\n\nWe were founded in 2014 to learn monarch butterfly behavior to promote ways to increase the number of monarch butterflies overwintering in Malibu\, and to protect and restore habitat for the monarch whose population has declined by more than 80% over the last 20 years. This decline is primarily due to loss of habitat to development and pesticide use.\n\n\n\nOur goal is to preserve and restore habitat not only for the iconic and threatened monarch butterfly but for other pollinators through the creation of pesticide free pollinator gardens throughout Malibu.\n\n\n\nAnother goal is to promote wildlife conservation through education about the Santa Monica Mountains\, and the need for its preservation. This work will help protect countless other insects and species which depend upon the native flora\, critical in this era of the insect apocalypse and general loss of biodiversity.\n\n \n\nCHARITABLE DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO:\n\nWestern Alliance for Nature \n\nNote on Check: Malibu Monarch Project
