Julia Kanesawa, also known as Malibu Julia, is a CPA-turned luxury Realtor, certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, and global connector based with Sotheby’s International Realty in Malibu. She represents clients across Malibu, Ventura County beaches, Channel Islands Harbor, and the surrounding communities of Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Camarillo, Newbury Park, Santa Rosa Valley, and Oak Park.
Julia’s professional foundation is unique. Before real estate, she was a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst & Young and KPMG Peat Marwick. This training sharpened her financial acumen and allows her to provide tax-smart, investment-minded strategies for buyers and sellers. She is known as both a trusted Realtor and a real estate consultant, guiding clients with clarity and precision through complex transactions.
What distinguishes Julia is her bicultural perspective. Born in America with Japanese heritage extending back 400 years, she is fluent in both English and Japanese. She draws inspiration from the Japanese Tea Ceremony principle of ichi-go ichi-e — “one moment, one encounter” — and brings that same mindfulness and respect into every client interaction.
