Located on Malibu Road in the heart of Malibu, the Dirk Braun Gallery features artists from around the world, as well as Dirk's photography.
Dirk's love of "flying boats" - water planes, and restoration of the old classic ones, has taken his award winning filmmaking on his journey with them and can't be missed. He also is showcasing photos of Elvis' Lockheed jet on Tuesday.
Dirk earned a degree in film and went on to direct commercials and campaigns for a long list of reputable brands. DIRK BRAUN gallery in Malibu showcases his photography collections derived from exploring and film productions. Dirk produced and directed the recently released feature documentary film, FLYING BOAT which is about a handful of pilots who have restored, fly, and maintain the last few airworthy examples of the Grumman Albatross. FLYING BOAT is streaming on all United Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Korean Air flights as well as on Amazon Prime (streaming & DVD). Dirk's large scale, limited edition photographs are displayed in public & private spaces around the world.
Explore photos of Elvis's plane:
This is Elvis’s 1962 Lockheed Jetstar. It was his third aircraft and one he owned with his father, Vernon. It had 4 jet engines, a red velvet interior with gold accents, and wood paneling that he designed. His other two aircraft are on display at Graceland in Nashville. This is his lost jet. It has been sitting in neglect in the dry desert of Roswell, NM for the past 40 years. I was filming a scene of an airliner being demolished all morning and was given the surprise opportunity to photograph this special aircraft. I was aware of it but wasn’t expecting to see it. Its engines and most of the flight components in the cockpit have been removed, rendering it no longer airworthy. The exterior paint has faded and the fuselage has started rusting, disguising its previous life of luxury and utility flying around the king of rock and roll.Date and Time
